Anti-Ragging Policy
Saudamini Institute of Nursing and Research is committed to providing a safe, secure, and respectful environment for all its students. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited on campus, in hostels, and during any institutional activities, as per the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Nursing Council (INC).
1. Definition of Ragging
Ragging includes any act that causes physical or psychological harm, discomfort, or harassment to a student. This may include verbal abuse, teasing, bullying, humiliation, or forcing a student to perform acts against their will.
2. Zero Tolerance Policy
Our institute adopts a strict Zero Tolerance Policy against ragging. Any student found guilty of participating in or encouraging ragging will face severe disciplinary action, including suspension, expulsion, or legal prosecution under relevant laws.
3. Legal Framework
As per the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions (2009), ragging is a criminal offence punishable under the law. Offenders may face:
- Imprisonment up to 3 years
- A fine up to ₹25,000
- Dismissal from the institution
- Debarring from admission in other institutions
4. Preventive Measures
- Display of anti-ragging posters across campus and hostels
- Mandatory anti-ragging undertakings from students and parents during admission
- Orientation programs for freshers and seniors to spread awareness
- Strict monitoring of hostel premises and common areas
5. Anti-Ragging Committee
The institute has constituted an Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad to monitor, investigate, and take prompt action in case of any reported incident.
Students can confidentially report incidents to the committee members via email, phone, or in person.
